my.SMU Browser Configuration

Recommended Browsers

Please Note:  You can only be logged into one PeopleSoft system per browser. For example, if you are in SMU Financials using Internet Explorer, you must use Chrome or Firefox or Safari to log into my.SMU.

Windows :

Internet Explorer 11
Firefox 17
Google Chrome 24

MAC:

Safari 5,6,7
Firefox 17
Google Chrome 24

For ALL browsers:

  • Cookies must be enabled.
  • Pop Ups should be allowed for My.SMU.
  • In order to minimize horizontal scrolling, your screen resolution should be set to 1024x768 or higher.

Although the application supports a variety of web browsers, SMU is not able to test and validate each and every version. Please ensure that all patches and updates are applied and kept up-to-date.

Configuring Internet Explorer 11

Empty Cache

  1. Exit Internet Explorer
  2. Click Start on your windows toolbar
  3. Click Settings
  4. Click Control Panel
  5. Click Internet Options
  6. On the General tab, locate the "Browsing history" section.
  7. Click Delete
  8. Uncheck the option 'Preserve Website Favorites and Data'
  9. Click Delete All

Add to Trusted Sites

  1. Exit Internet Explorer
  2. Click Start on your windows toolbar
  3. Click Settings
  4. Click Control Panel
  5. Click Internet Options
  6. Click the Security tab
  7. Click the "Trusted Sites" icon
  8. Click the "Sites" button
  9. Uncheck the box "Require server verifications (https:) for all sites in this zone"
  10. Type "*.smu.edu" in the "add this web site to the zone" field
  11. Click Add
  12. Click Close

Accept Cookies

  1. Exit Internet Explorer
  2. Click Start on your windows toolbar
  3. Click Settings
  4. Click Control Panel
  5. Click Internet Options
  6. Click the Privacy tab
  7. Click Advanced
  8. Confirm that the word "accept" is selected under First-party cookies and Third-party cookies.
  9. If "accept" is not selected:
    1. click Override automatic cookie handling
    2. Click Accept under first-party cookies
    3. Click Accept under third party cookies
    4. Check "Always allow session cookies"
    5. Click OK

    Modifying Pop Up Blocker Settings

    1. Exit Internet Explorer
    2. Click Start on your windows toolbar
    3. Click Settings
    4. Click Control Panel
    5. Click Internet Options
    6. Click the Privacy tab
    7. If Pop Up blocker is enabled, click Settings
    8. Add *.smu.edu to the allowed websites
    9. Click Close
    10. Click OK
