Academic Technology Services, under the leadership of Bradley Boeke, is responsible for providing instructional technology support for all faculty. This team is responsible for course management (Blackboard) support, digital and online media development, as well as support for the statistical and mathematical software programs used by the various academic departments.
The Enterprise Systems Services, led by Ron Lujan, consists of technical developers that offer programming and consulting for the SMU Financials, Access.SMU, SMU Budgets, AdminImages, and Voyager (PONI) systems on campus. This team is responsible for maintaining, interfacing and customizing the database applications as well as working with Systems to implement new phases of Access.SMU and PONI. The Enterprise team also provides desktop database support and training for campus users.
Support Services, under the leadership of Abby Kinney, is responsible for providing hardware and software desktop support, AV support for faculty and staff, departmental cellular phone acqusition and support, training, and general computing support to all users affiliated with the University. In addition the team oversees IT communication efforts and departmental Project Management coordination. The Help Desk is the central resource for reporting all computer, network and telephone problems. In addition, Support Services offers employee training for SMU Budgets, SMU Financials and administrative Access.SMU as well as software packages such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, and podcasting.
The System Infrastructure Services team, under the leadership of Allen Hughes, is responsible for providing servers, storage and systems software services for the university. Systems software services include enterprise database support, web infrastructure, unified messaging services, SMU account & access management, SMU ID Card support, hosted department applications, virtualized hosted systems, file storage services, server data backup services, content management support services, and collaboration systems support services.
Telecommunications Services, led by Jesse Miller, is responsible for maintaining the campus wired and wireless network (including upgrading and installing network equipment), maintaining inside/outside cable plant, monitoring network security, telephone and voice mail operations, and providing SMU directory assistance. Telecommunications provides long distance, calling card, and audio conferencing services for faculty, staff and students and is responsible for the campus wide cellular and cable services contracts. Jesse also serves on the SMU Emergency Management Taskforce.
