SMU Announces 2016 Football Schedule

SMU today announced its highly-anticipated 2016 football schedule, a slate that is highlighted by six games on the SMU campus, including a Ford Stadium match-up with rival TCU.

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU today announced its highly-anticipated 2016 football schedule, a slate that is highlighted by six games on the SMU campus, including a Ford Stadium match-up with rival TCU. Other 2016 visitors to Ford will include American Athletic Conference-mates and 2015 bowl teams Houston, USF, Navy and Memphis as well as non-conference foe Liberty.

SMU will open the season with in-state trips to Denton and Waco to take on North Texas on Sept. 3 and Baylor on Sept. 10 before hosting Liberty in the home opener on Sept. 17.

ESPN will televise SMU’s Friday-night Battle for the Iron Skillet against TCU on Sept. 23 from Ford Stadium. SMU football will then make its first trip to Philadelphia in 70 years on Oct. 1 to take on Temple before taking a short trip to Tulsa for a Friday-night, nationally-televised game on Oct. 7.

In-state rival Houston comes to SMU on Oct. 22 before the Mustangs head to New Orleans to tackle Tulane on Oct. 29. Memphis visits Ford on Nov. 5 before SMU travels to North Carolina for the final road game of the season at East Carolina.

The Mustangs will wrap-up the regular season with home games on Nov. 19 and Nov. 26 against USF and Navy, respectively.
