SMU Police officers stopped three men who drove onto campus early Tuesday morning after they were seen driving erratically.

SMU Police officers stopped three men who drove onto campus early Tuesday morning after they were seen driving erratically. The officers observed a female, who had been assaulted, exit the van. The victim alleges that the suspects, none of whom are affiliated with SMU, assaulted her in the van as they drove from southeast Dallas.

The SMU officers arrested the occupants of the van on Bishop Boulevard and held them until Dallas Police arrived.

The victim, who is not affiliated with SMU, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Dallas Police are investigating the case and have advised that they will be providing additional information via social media as it becomes available.

See the Dallas Police Department statement.

This offense does not appear to be related to the criminal assault of a female SMU student that occurred on Sept. 7, 2014, in University Park.
