Gas prices may soon fall
Mike Davis, economist at SMU's Cox School of Business, talks about the worldwide influence on gas prices.
Some oil experts say gas prices could drop by as much as 50 cents a gallon this fall.
Right now, the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.74 a gallon.
Here in Texas, drivers are paying substantially less at $3.51.
Gas prices are already falling in the battleground states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Some say the current administration is trying to score political points with the election just weeks away.
Others say that is not the case.
"The fact is that energy prices are set on a world wide market. It matters a whole lot what's happening in China, what's happening in India, what's happening in the middle east. It doesn't matter much what's happening in Washington," said Dr. Mike Davis, a professor at SMU.
Triple A says it pays off to shop around for gas.
For example, you could see significantly different prices at gas stations located just one mile from each other.
