Must Watch: The New Chipotle Short Film “The Scarecrow,” from Meadows Alum's Moonbot Studios
Distinguished Meadows alum William Joyce's company produced one masterful Chipotle ad
It’s a companion piece for a new app-based game for the burrito franchise Chipotle, but on its own it's much more than that. The new, beautiful short from Moonbot Studios, the Shreveport-based production company behind the Oscar-winning short film short film “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore,” follows a heavy-minded scarecrow saddened by desensitized food production stemming from the major, city-eating corporation Crow Foods.
The short is designed to push Chipotle’s stance on sustainable beef. Before you roll your eyes at the word “ad,” take a look: no doubt the scarecrow’s heavy eyes at the sight of a tortured, tagged cow will you hit you right in the feels.
William Joyce is an accomplished Meadows alum (he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1981, with a major in broadcast-film). He is a children’s author, filmmaker and Moonbot Studios founder.
At the time of writing this, the short has gathered over five million views on YouTube. If you needed any more incentive to click the short: the whole thing is scored by Fiona Apple’s sensational cover of “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
