Music Therapy Director Robert Krout Wins Award from Southwestern Region of American Music Therapy Association
Harmony Award honors Dr. Krout’s work in research
Robert Krout, professor and director of music therapy at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts, received the Harmony Award for Research from the Southwestern Region of the American Music Therapy Association (SWAMTA) at the group’s annual conference in Houston on March 24. The award, established in 1989, honors SWAMTA members who have “made outstanding and significant contributions to the profession in the areas of education, clinical practice, research, and/or service.” The Harmony Award for Research has only been presented twice before, in 1990 and 2000. Dr. Krout was honored for his scholarly excellence in music therapy research and publications. He previously received the national Research and Publications Award from the American Music Therapy Association in 2005.
