SMU Forensics Debate on September 8 Discusses Immigration Reform
Students express their views on Texas assuming an Arizona-like immigration law
September 07, 2010
The debate for the evening is whether Texas should adopt Arizona-style legal reforms to reduce illegal immigration. Chris Dawkins, a sophomore and double major in political science and public policy, said, “This debate should be important to students because it reflects a controversial real-world issue that is knocking on Texas's door. Many students already have their own views on this issue, and this debate is a chance to hear both sides.”
SMU Debate is housed in the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Division of the Meadows School of the Arts. SMU Debate has qualified for and attended the National Debate Tournament four times in the past two years.
