Five SMU Journalism students, guided by Professor Lucy Scott, went to New Orleans on Friday to cover the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Check back throughout the weekend to see the students’ multi-platform news reports on

Making the trip were Hayley Nelson, Kassi Schmitt, Nicolette Schleisman, Sarah Bray and Josh Parr, all students in Professor Scott's Broadcast II class.
Daily Mustang Managing Editor Aida Ahmed, Professor Jake Batsell and Professor Scott will remain in Dallas to coordinate Web publication.

In the wake of the hurricane, SMU offered assistance — including temporary enrollment — to Louisiana college students who had been displaced by Katrina.
