Artist Diploma Audition and Application Procedure
- Upload a video recording of a 60‐minute recital and complete the audition information in the audition scheduling tool at http://smu.edu/RecordedMusicAuditions. Submissions are due by January 15th for full consideration. Submissions will be considered on a space-available basis thereafter with limited scholarship opportunity. - Complete the online graduate application for the Artist Diploma at: https://www.applyweb.com/apply/smum/.
With a successful review, your audition/application will be forwarded to the second round of evaluation. At this level, you will be scheduled for a preliminary conference call interview with the AD Interview Committee, consisting of the Director of the Division of Music, the Associate Director for Student Affairs, and the appropriate Applied Area Chair.
With a successful interview, your audition/application will be forwarded to the third round of evaluation. At this level, you will be scheduled for a live audition on campus. For the audition, you will prepare and perform a 60-minute recital in Caruth Auditorium in the Meadows School of the Arts. The live auditions will be arranged on an individual basis, taking into consideration your schedule and the availability of the audition committee and probable applied teacher. An interview will also be conducted during the live audition visit.
Final admissions decisions will be communicated within the month following your on-campus recital.
