Deborah Baron

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Flute

Deborah Baron has been a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra since 1985. She holds the piccolo/associate principal flute chair. After earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the Juilliard School, Ms. Baron performed with the Filarmonica de Caracas, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Springfield (Massachusetts) Symphony and in two Broadway shows, as well as in the Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds in both South Carolina and Italy. She was a winner of the 1976 New York Flute Club Competition. As a founding member of the ensemble Flute Force, Ms. Baron has performed extensively with that group, including a 1985 Carnegie Hall debut. Ms. Baron participated in the Grand Teton Music Festival for ten years and has recorded with her trio, Tryptych, for Klavier Records International. Her teachers include Francis Blaisdell, Arthur Lora, Julius Baker, and Keith Underwood.
