Melanie Jarrett
Director of Marketing
Melanie Jarrett is a digital marketing professional with seven years of experience creating, editing and publishing engaging content for the Web. Her work spans several genres, including sports, outdoors, active lifestyle and the arts; and includes an expertise in Content Management Systems.
Melanie received her undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Texas, where she was a four-year softball letterwinner and two-time Women’s College World Series participant. She went on to earn an MA in Public Relations from the Grady College of Journalism at the University of Georgia.
Melanie’s career began in PR at a sports marketing agency in Atlanta before freelancing opportunities led her to accept a full-time position as an Associate Editor with ESPN.com. In this role she wrote, edited and published for ESPNOutdoors.com before spearheading the launch of ESPNRodeo.com as a standalone microsite under the ESPN.com umbrella.
In 2009, Melanie returned to Texas to become Managing Editor of FCDallas.com, official site for Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas. In this role she led an internal team responsible for assuming editorial and publishing duties for the FC Dallas family of sites for the first time in club history.
Melanie is also a social media specialist, aiding in the successful growth of Facebook and Twitter accounts for numerous companies and brands, including FC Dallas, STIHL USA, Aflac Racing and more. You can follow her on Twitter @digital_meljay.
Melanie lives in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas and enjoys riding her bike to SMU’s beautiful campus and spending time with her fiance, Sean, and her adorable Jack Russell Terrier, Cobie Bean. You can find her on any given weekend taking in a show at the Granada Theater or tooling around town on her bike, aptly nicknamed Mustang Sally.
