Rueben D. Gonzales studied at the University of Texas in Arlington's school of Art & Art History where he received a Bachelor's of Fine Art in photography with a focus on social injustice and equal rights. During his time at university he also discovered his love of journalism and podcasting while working as an entertainment writer for UTA's The Shorthorn newspaper. Passionate about nonprofit organizations affecting the community as well, he spent four years at Catholic Charities in Fort Worth working with refugees while continuing his independent photographic work.
