Catriona is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. She is a member of SWE, APES, and Theta Tau. She has served as the treasurer for SMUG, runs cross country and track at SMU, and has participated in the Innovation Gym.
Are you an athlete who wants to also study engineering? Well then the Lyle School of Engineering is the place for you. The Lyle School of Engineering is one of the few schools were you can participate in a Division I Athletics department while also pursuing a degree in engineering. It may be tough at times, but the faculty and staff here want you to succeed.
I personally run for cross country and track for SMU, but there are several other students who participate in Division I athletics. Darren Walsh is on the tennis team, Fernando Lara-Carillo is on the Men’s Swimming Team, and Jennifer Fugate is on the rowing team.
Club sports also have a big following here at SMU. The engineering floor at Cockrell-McIntosh resident hall actually created their own soccer team, and playing sand volleyball at the Dedman Rec Center was a favorite of many other engineers. And while it may not be a sport, most of the members of the ballroom dancing club are in fact engineers.
The faculty and staff here at SMU want to support any passion you have, so if you have a passion for sports, SMU is the place to be.
