Armed with degrees in electrical engineering and math, Austin Curry entered University of Virginia’s prestigious law school in the fall of 2004. His long-term goal is to become a patent attorney, which will allow him to draw on his undergraduate training.
At SMU’s Lyle School, Austin was one of the first participants in the Lyle's Industry Scholars Program. The program gives students financial aid for up to four years of study and internships during their junior and senior years.
He interned with Hunt Power Co., one of the program’s original sponsors. Austin also had two summers of engineering-related work experience at General Motors and Texas Instruments.
In addition to his busy academic schedule, Austin served as vice president of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society, and was active in the Mathematical Association of America and the SMU Boxing Club. He also plays the piano in his spare time.
