Welcome to PlacePro the on-line registration and referral system for the SMU Lyle School of Engineering Office of Undergraduate Professional Experience Programs. Students seeking career opportunities via the Cooperative Education Program can post resumes, view job postings and track their application status via the convenience of the on-line system. All students interested, (mandatory for co-op students) in utilizing PlacePro must complete a Professional Experience Programs application. Forms are located in the Undergraduate Professional Experience Programs Office located in Caruth Hall, RM 112.

1. Student Information

Total GPA: This is your cumulative GPA. (This must be accurately completed or your access to PlacePro will be denied)

Freshman: 29 hours or less
Sophomore: 30 hours to 59 hours
Junior: 60 hours to 89 hours
Senior: 90 or more hours
Graduate student: Currently attending graduate school

3. Employment Information

Semester and Year: Pick the soonest semester and year you will be able to start a co-op or internship.

PT/FT: Pick F/T if you are a co-op student. Co-op jobs are FT only.
After you are finished filling out your information for this page you must save it using the “Save” box at the bottom of the page.

Note: This page will be the first page to pop up after the first login.
Under “General” on the right hand corner there are 7 categories:

You must double-click on the first four categories, Summary, Contract/Application, About You, and Job Preferences, and fill each one out completely. After each page is completed then you must save each one using the “Save” box at the bottom of each page.
1. Summary
The summary is the first page shown. It gives your status on resume created, resume last updated, application status, document status, employment type, if you are released or not, the semester you plan to co-op, the year you plan to co-op, section (which should be N/A), full-time, and if you have been placed or not.
Note: Even though it will say “Resume Created” you must still upload your resume onto the database. “Resume Created” at the top of the page is only the date when the Co-op Director entered you in to the PlacePro database.
2. Contract/Application
Read the “Co-op Agreement” and click to accept if you agree to the terms of the application.
3. About You
The categories indicated by the red lettering will already be filled out for you.
A. General information

First Name: Your first name will already be entered for you.

Middle Name: Fill in your middle name or your middle initial, if desired.

Last Name: Your last name will already be entered for you.

Login: Your login will already be entered for you.

This page will contain the co-op requirements, goals sheet (for current co-ops), guidelines for co-op reports (for co-ops to write about their place of employment), and the job data report. These things will be viewed and downloaded off this page.
HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR RESUME

Go to the paper and pencil icon named “Documents” at the top of your homepage and double click on it. This will bring up the Documents page.

Double click on the third side heading labeled “My documents”.
-
After doing this you will see a heading at the top of the page that says “ Upload a New Document”. Underneath the heading is a “Browse” button. Use this button to browse your computer until you find your resume. Click on where your resume is and click the button “Open”. This will insert your resume into the designated box. After this is done, click on the “Upload” box to complete the uploading.
