With prominent faculty representing expertise in critically important fields—Dr. Fred Chang, director of the Darwin Deason Institute, advancing world-class research in cyber security; Dr. Delores Etter, National Academy of Engineering member, performing research in physical and behavioral biometrics; Dr. Radovan Kovacevic, director of the Center for Laser Aided Manufacturing and the Research Center for Advanced Manufacturing, investigating the latest R&D processes and materials for industrial applications among global competitors, SMU Lyle is poised to offer students a variety of research activities available on our campus.

Like most disciplines, engineering is highly specialized. Competent engineers require curriculum geared toward providing not only a broad fundamental engineering principle, but also narrowly focused areas of specialization to address the increasingly complex challenges students will encounter upon graduation. SMU Lyle offers concentrations within its 29 graduate degree programs. We combine the depth and breadth of engineering ingenuity with global perspectives to better understand the needs of humanity and to make life better for all.
