Important Reminder

You must use your SMU e-mail address for all official correspondence with SMU. Invoices will only be e-mailed to your SMU campus e-mail address. If you do not know your e-mail address, you may do a search for it in the SMU Directory.

If you have forgotten your password for your SMU e-mail account, send an e-mail to SMU Help Desk.

New Students

You will be mailed a password to use the ACCESS.smu.edu on-line information system. The password, combined with a student’s 8 digit ID number will allow you to log on to ACCESS.smu.edu to check your registration status, look up grades (grades are no longer mailed), change your address and phone number, register for class for future terms, and to check for any holds.

Enrollment for Summer and Fall Terms Now Open - Early enrollment until April 20, 2012

Enroll now! If you enroll after June 6 for Summer or August 24 for Fall, you will be subject to late fees.

First time to Enroll? Read all the enrollment instructions.

Note: Follow the instructions to find your desired classes under “Search for Classes”. Write down the 4 digit “class number” for the proper section.

Add a "3" to section number for Summer term courses

To Enroll in Military Distance section or in Master’s Thesis or Doctoral Dissertation sections send a request with your SMU ID Number and the course you wish to take to Janis Jessen.

Enroll for Courses

  1. Use the Access.SMU.edu system and select Student Center under the Student Self Service window at the right side of the Access.SMU.edu home screen.
  2. Select “Add a class”
  3. Select the appropriate term
  4. Click Add Classes
  5. Enter the Class Number in the Class Nbr field, or click the lookup button to view the schedule of classes. If you use the lookup button, click on the check mark next to the desired class in the search results. The class number will automatically be entered into the Add class screen.
  6. Enter one or more Class Numbers. To add more than 6 Class Numbers, click ADD ANOTHER CLASS.
  7. Click Submit
  8. Be sure to select “campus essentials (parking)” if needed and click “view your account” to see your tuition charges.
  9. Tuition due dates are May 12, 2012 for Summer, August 16, 2012 for Fall.
  10. Failure to pay by tuition due dates will result in a late fee.
  11. If you pay with a company voucher, fax to Angie Flores at 214-768-1930.
  12. You may pay by credit card (MasterCard, Discover, American Express) with 2.75% service charge on webpay.

Students who are graduating at the end of the term:

Print, complete and fax the Application for Candidacy to Graduate to 214-768-3778. To receive this document, contact Jim Dees. You need to do this at the beginning of the term. You must also complete a degree plan and fax to 214-768-3778.
