Donna K. Dunaway received the Ph.D. from the Computer Science Center (now the Department of Computer Science and Engineering) in 1974 and is the owner of The Dunaway Group. She teaches training courses, conducts appraisals, and provides consulting support for clients' process improvement initiatives.
She served as a Senior Member of the Technical Staff in the Software Engineering Process Management Program, Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, from 1992 to 2002.
Before joining the SEI, Dr. Dunaway worked in software development organizations and applied research groups in support of software engineering technologies. She has led software process improvement initiatives, research projects, knowledge-based system development, and other engineering applications implemented in software. She has technical and managerial experience in software research and development with companies including Texas Instruments, The Analytic Sciences Corporation, Atlantic Richfield, and her own consulting firm. She has taught graduate computer science courses at The University of Texas at Dallas and East Texas State University. She is the author of many technical reports and conference presentations.
Dr. Dunaway is an SEI-authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraiser and SW-CMM Lead Assessor, having participated in assessments for organizations at all maturity levels. She is an Instructor for the SEI's Introduction to the CMM Course and Introduction to CMMI courses.
