CSE at SMU is a research-oriented, student-centered department. The department promotes world-class research with absolute commitment to excellence in teaching. The CSE Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Computer Science (BA, BS, MS, PhD), Computer Engineering (BS, MS, PhD), Software Engineering (MS, DE), Security Engineering (MS) as well as several certificate and executive programs.
On August 15, 2013, the CSE Department Hosted the Water Sector Cyber Security Symposium, a half-day symposium for water and wastewater industry stakeholders; control system security experts; academia; and State, Local, and Federal government emergency managers. The event was sponsored by CP&Y, Signature Automation, and Delta Risk.
Computer Science and Engineering Team Takes 2nd Place at Cyber Defense Competition. A team from the Lyle CSE Department shocked the competition at the Southwest Regional of the NCCDC (National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition) presented by Deloitte.
CSE Department creates Departmental Distinction designation for gifted undergraduates
John Forrest is the first Lyle undergraduate student to be awarded Departmental Distinction for his research on data stream mining.
CSE Faculty Receives IEEE-USA Citation of Honor Award
Prof. Mitch Thornton received the 2009 IEEE-USA Citation of Honor award at the IEEE-USA annual meeting during the awards banquet in Nashville, Tenn.
