Admission Requirements
- Master’s degree in one of the engineering disciplines, or in a quantitative natural or physical science.
- Outstanding applicants with only baccalaureate degrees may apply for admission to the Ph.D. program.
- Excellent academic performance in all completed course work, with a G.P.A. of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
- GRE scores greater than 650 quantitative and 550 verbal.
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals who can judge the applicant's potential success as a doctoral student.
Degree Requirements
- At least 54 term-credit hours of course work beyond the baccalaureate degree.
- A minor of at least 12 term-credit hours providing breadth and support to the doctoral program
- 24 term-credit hours of dissertation.
- Written and oral doctoral qualifying examinations.
- A written dissertation.
- Defense of the dissertation.
- The courses comprising a degree plan will be determined by the student’s supervisory committee. These plans will vary among students depending on their background and dissertation research topic.
