Research Objectives:

  • To explorer an application for digital design and additive manufacturing (AM) in personalization of sports products.
  • To determine if the production based on AM of golf club heads is feasible for both iron and driver type club heads.
  • Develop a design and manufacturing process to meet the personalization demands of customers.
  • To develop internal structures in golf club heads to optimize the performance.
  • To develop a test club to experimentally obtain information about the orientation of the club head during the golf swing.
  • Analyze and optimize dynamic & aerodynamic efficiency of club heads
 
 
 
  • AM makes it possible the personalize golf clubs quickly and cost effectively.
    • Any physical club head parameter can be custom built.
  • AM makes it possible to incorporate new design parameters into the club head to optimize performance, i.e. FGP.
  • A test club can be used to gather user specific data for design of club heads.
