CSE 1340: Introduction to Computing Concepts


Course Description

This course introduces computer science and software development concepts, and is designed for students with no prior computer programming experience.  Students will learn to develop algorithms to solve problems then they will develop computer programs to implement those algorithms.   Basic programming techniques including math, control statements, simple input/output will be used.  This class will be very hands on, with guided mentoring by the instructor.  Therefore, all students are required to bring a computer (Mac or PC) to class.  All software tools will be provided to students on the first day of class at no additional charge.


Instructor Biography

Ken Howard is Vice President of consulting at Improving Enterprises, an software development consulting firm in Dallas.   Ken has been an adjunct member of the SMU Computer Science faculty for four years.
