Lifting Up Under-Represented Students in the Pursuit of Classical Vocal Study

 

The Barbara Hill Moore & Bruce R. Foote Scholarship Foundation

Awarding scholarships since 1989, the Foundation’s mission is to encourage and support students with a background that has been historically under-represented in the advanced pursuit of classical vocal study. Scholarships are awarded in Masters and Artist Certificate Programs at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

  • Amanda Kosi

    Amanda Kosi

    AMANDA KOSI, soprano began the MM program and entered the 2018 NATS Competition winning first place and the Grady Harlan Award given to the singer in the competition with the most outstanding career potential. She won Second Place in the TEXOMA Region NATS Artist Competition and was a finalist in the SMU concerto competition. She sang the role of Fiordiligi in Cosi in the SMU Lyric Opera production in 2021 and won first place in the OU Benton competition for graduate study in the DMA program at Univ. of Oklahoma. She will sing the role of Hester Prynne in the University of Oklahoma production of the Scarlett Letter by Lori Laitman in February 2022.

  • Prosper Makhanya

    Prosper Makhanya

    PROSPER MAKHANYA, PD Mus, in 2020 is a second year Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Master of Environmental Engineering program at SMU. He is a member of the Young Artist Ensemble in the Dallas Opera Outreach Program and will sing a principal role this year with both the Dallas and Ft. Worth Operas. Prosper won 2nd Place in the National Finals of NATS and is currently a Finalist with the Metropolitan Opera Competition in 2022.

  • Ardeen Pierre

    ARDEEN PIERRE, PD 2021 sang with the Santa Fe Opera Program in summer 2021. She won First Place in the TEXOMA Region NATS Artist Competition and is presently singing in the Young Artist in the Florentine Opera Program in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
