Ceremony, Passes and Security Information

General admission entry passes are required for all guests, regardless of age, for the Friday evening Baccalaureate Service in McFarlin Auditorium and the Saturday morning Commencement Convocation in Moody Coliseum. Seating is limited and is first come, first served. A pass does not guarantee a seat.  Saving seats is not permitted.

Entry passes must be requested by the degree candidate and provided to guests prior to the event. Passes are not available on-site. Only candidates who notified the University Registrar of participation in Baccalaureate or Commencement can request passes and provide them to their guests.

Candidates must have SMU regalia and have declared their intention to participate. Candidates who failed to register their participation and now wish to participate can request to participate by emailing registrar@smu.edu by Friday, May 13 at noon.

Pass Warning: It is a violation of SMU policy for a candidate to sell or barter an academic ceremony guest pass. Each pass has a unique code and can only be used once. Once a pass code has been used to gain admittance to the Coliseum, no other use of the code is permitted.

Please read carefully the rules related to each event.
