Ceremony, Ticket and Security Information

IMPORTANT! RECENTLY UPDATED.

General admission entry tickets are required for all guests, regardless of age, for the Friday evening Baccalaureate Service in McFarlin Auditorium and the Saturday morning Commencement Convocation in Moody Coliseum. Seating is limited. A ticket does not guarantee a seat. Why are tickets required?

Entry tickets must be requested by the degree candidate and provided to guests prior to the event. Tickets are not available on-site. Only candidates who notified the University Registrar of participation in Baccalaureate or Commencement by April 24 can request tickets and provide them to their guests.

Candidates do not need a ticket to participate, but must have SMU regalia and have declared their intention to participate prior to April 24. Candidates will be checked-in to the line-up area. Candidates who failed to register their participation prior to April 24th and now wish to participate can request to be added to the event waitlist by emailing ceremonies@smu.edu. If a space becomes open, the candidate will be added to the ticket database and notified at their SMU email address.

Ticket Warning: It is a violation of SMU policy for a candidate to sell or barter an academic ceremony guest ticket. Each ticket has a unique code and can only be used once. Once a ticket code has been used to gain admittance to the coliseum, no other use of the code is permitted.

Please read carefully the rules related to each event.
