Why are tickets required?
Baccalaureate: Guest tickets have been required for several years for the Baccalaureate service. Even though a ticket does not guarantee a seat, allowing 2 guest tickets per Bachelor’s candidate significantly improves the chances that all candidates will have guests in McFarlin. Most years, all guests who have a ticket for McFarlin and wish to be seated there, are accommodated. Every year a number of guests decide to attend the simulcast in Hughes-Trigg or watch the webcast for comfort and convenience.
Commencement: There has been a very strong interest from graduates, their families, and members of the general community in attending the University Commencement Convocation on Saturday, May 16. A record number of degree candidates have indicated that they will attend the ceremony. As you know, we asked that graduates limit the number of guests attending convocation to no more than four. This limit would not, however, have precluded people who did not have any graduates from coming to convocation. We want to do all that we can to ensure that the guests of our graduates have the best possible opportunity to attend the convocation, so we will now require that all guests, regardless of age, present tickets at Moody for the Saturday morning commencement convocation. A simulcast will be offered in the Dedman Recreation Center, in Crum Auditorium, and on Bolin Plaza to accommodate overflow seating.
