SMU Faculty and Staff
Photography of University facilities and events must be done in partnership with the University and SMU Public Affairs. To secure a photographer for an assignment, you must submit your photography request at least four weeks in advance.
Select the appropriate request form:
University-wide priorities limit the availability of SMU staff photographers. If a staff photographer is unavailable, we may recommend outside resources to fulfill your request. Or, if you prefer, we can provide names of freelance photographers you may hire. All freelance photographers must be under legal contract with SMU for copyright usage, carry liability insurance, agree to location standards, secure model releases as needed and take responsibility for metadata keywording for digital archiving. More information for freelance photographer requirements is available here. A standardized keyword list and metadata best-practices guide for use by your freelance photographer are available at the MediaArchive Wiki.

Digital assets for SMU Public Affairs are located on IT servers in MediaArchive.SMU and accessible through Apps.SMU.edu four weeks after the images are photographed. If you need to receive two to five key photos before then, please indicate what is needed and a due date at the time you submit your photo request.
