World Languages and Literatures @ SMU

The Department of World Languages and Literatures offers courses in American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish.

In addition to a diverse variety of course offerings the department offers a variety of internships and study abroad opportunities.

A specialization in one of these languages combined with first hand immersion in global culture, history, film, art, literature, and business prepares students for variety of career opportunities.

Liljana and her husband, Johan, are SMU professors who live in the Commons as Faculty in Residence. Student residents stream into the couple’s cozy apartment every Sunday night for snacks.
