Are you a high school student interested in the humanities and sciences?

You're in luck! We will automatically review you for competitive merit scholarships in Dedman College when you are admitted to SMU and have listed a Dedman College major as your first choice interest on the SMU application.

 

Qualified applicants will then be invited to apply to our Dedman College Scholars Program. This scholarship process requires an additional letter of intent and a phone interview. If you're chosen as a scholarship candidate, or recipient, we will notify you through the mailing and/or email address you've listed on your application.

 

Are you a current student with a declared major in Dedman College? 

As a continuing Dedman College student, you are also eligible for scholarship consideration!  To apply for merit scholarship in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, email DedmanCollege@smu.edu with the following information:

  • Your student ID, major and cumulative GPA
    • Competitive GPA to obtain a merit scholarship is a 3.7-4.0 
    • Student must be declared in at least one Dedman College major
  • Year in school and expected graduation term
  • Describe your short and long-range goals, both academic and professional
  • Two letters of recommendation from SMU professors in your major (acceptable by email)
    • Potential Topics to Cover Include:student's potential, student's goals, research skills, contributions to class discussions, interpersonal skills, leadership ability, extracurricular activity

Please note the following deadlines:

  • All materials are due by close of business on April 25. No exceptions will be made for late applications
  • Offers are made - via SMU Webmail - between early May and the mid June
