WLL Technology Center

The Foreign Language Teaching Technology Center was opened as the Foreign Language Laboratory on September 20, 1965. Over the past forty years, the lab has evolved into a technology center, with PCs and the internet replacing reel-to-reel machines and record players. The current Tech Center is housed in Clements Hall, room 234, and is equipped with nine eMac stations, thirteen PC stations, an audiovisual center and comfortable space for class meetings, reading and studying. Over 2000 student visits to the FLTTC are recorded each semester. Students come to take advantage of the Tech Center's features, some of which include:

  • Internet access via Ethernet
  • Audio and video software at each workstation
  • Printing capabilities
  • Digital audio recording capabilities (Audacity)
  • Word processing for each language taught at SMU
  • 100" video projection screen with multiregion/multistandard DVD and VCR players
  • Digital video recorder
  • Computers and scanner available for faculty use

The Center is open to both class and individual student use. For more information, or to schedule a course in the Tech Center, please email Elise Pflum at eapflum@smu.edu.
