After teaching Japanese, ESL and Technology and working as an independent consultant and web designer, Professor Flores joined the faculty of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at SMU in 2005, where she is also affiliated with SMU's interdisciplinary program in Asian Studies.
Recent interests include the development of interactive, online multimedia materials, technology training of Japanese language teachers and action research on active learning. She has presented her papers at different conferences and published several software reviews for academic journals. As service to the larger Japanese teaching community, she maintains "Keiko Schneider's Bookmarks" site and manages "senseiOnline", a mailing list for teachers of Japanese. She has also been involved in Japan-related events as an area chair of the SMU Japanese program, and advisor for both the SMU Japan club and Anime Club. Professor Schneider actively participates in the organization Association of Teachers of Japanese (ATJ) and has served as Director on the Board of Directors.
