Chinese Area Advisor
Professor Xia came to the World Languages and Literures Department at SMU from Princeton University where she taught for six years. Recent publications of hers include: All Things Considered: Advanced Reader of Modern Chinese, Princeton University Press, 2000, and Short Stories in Ming Dynasty, Hong Kong University Press, 2007.

Yang Xue
Professor Zue received her Ph.D. degree in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at Beijing Normal University in 2011. Her areas of expertise include Chinese linguistics, Chinese pedagogy and Chinese literature.

Guangyan Chen
Professor Chen received her Ph.D in Chinese language from Ohio State University in 2011.
Prior to coming to SMU in 2011 Professor Chen taught at the University of Notre Dame, the College of William & Mary, The Ohio State University, The University of Iowa, and Nanjing University.
Her areas of expertise include Chinese pedagogy as well as Chinese literature and culture.

Wei Qu, M.A.
Professor Qu's area of expertise includes Chinese pedagogy and Chinese culture. Before joining the SMU faculty in 2011, she had two years of teaching experience at Princeton in Beijing's summer program.
