SMU-in-Morocco
SMU-in-Morocco is a five-week intensive language program that offers intermediate and advanced Arabic language classes conducted in an environment in which students will experience total immersion into the language, culture and history of Morocco. The host institution AALIM is located in Meknes, one of four ancient imperial cities in the Kingdom of Morocco. Students will earn six hours of academic credit.
Special Events
The students will take two day trips - one to the ancient city of Fez and another one to the old Roman town of Volubilis. In addition, two overnight trips are organized - one to Tangiers and another one to the Sahara desert, where students will ride camels on the sand dunes, and they will sleep in an oasis under the open sky, or in tents.

Program Director
Dr. Liljana Elverskog is a Lecturer in SMU’s Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. She has taught all levels of Arabic language and Arabic literature and culture classes at various US universities and colleges for 20 years.
