The Women's and Gender Studies Program offers many awards to students and faculty. The awards are open to Women's and Gender Studies Minors and students pursuing the major in IndividualOur program also offers both cash and tuition awards for Women's and Gender Studies minors. Note: all of these awards are also open to students who pursue the major in Individualized Studies in the Liberal Arts with a focus in Women’s and Gender Studies.
- The Betty Janette Maynard Award for Excellence in Women’s and Gender Studies: an award of $1000-3000 given to a junior or senior student with a declared Women's and Gender Studies minor. Application dates are announced each fall and due early in the spring. The award involves a portfolio of relevant work, so interested students should save their work. See the Maynard Awards page and follow the links for more details.
- The Betty Janette Maynard Scholarship, a tuition award of up to $5000 to an entering senior student with a declared Women's and Gender Studies minor, and who qualifies for financial aid. Recipients are chosen in the late summer before the beginning of the senior year. Because this award is determined administratively on the basis of financial aid eligibility and GPA, there is no application.
- Betty Janette Maynard Research Assistantships: an award of $1500 for Women's and Gender Studies minors selected to work with a professor in his or her gender-related research projects. These are occasional awards, announced when WGS identifies an opportunity for a student to work with a professor or agency.
- The Ann Early Award, given to a student with outstanding scholarship and service to the Women's and Gender Studies Program. The recipient is chosen each year by the WGS council.
