Research
Hiltz has explored Wittgensteinian and pragmatist themes
subversive of traditional metaphysics of meaning, and has interests in political
philosophy and several issues in the philosophy of mind. He currently struggles
vainly against the charms of quietism, and restricts his energies to making
life hard for those with an actual research program.

Other than that
Hiltz has dabbled in poetry, and from time to time
produces pages that could one day amount to a novel. He played alto saxophone
as a hobby until his embouchure and back went south on him. The time formerly
devoted to that pursuit is now spent playing poker.
