The Department of Economics in Dedman College of Southern Methodist University (SMU) invites applications for three tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. We are interested in candidates with a strong research focus in all areas of economics, but particularly macroeconomics, microeconomic theory, international economics, and urban economics. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds.

The position in urban economics is one of eight tenure-line positions associated with Southern Methodist University’s faculty cluster in urban research, and offers opportunities for rich interdisciplinary connections among new and existing SMU faculty. The cluster fosters research on cities and urbanization from local and global perspectives. SMU’s location in Dallas, the fourth largest metropolitan area in the country, is an ideal setting for studying the opportunities and inequities that individuals, groups, and communities confront as they navigate and shape urban life.

Qualifications. Ph.D. in Economics or related field is required by August 1, 2024. Position start date is August 1, 2024.

Lecturer Position [Position Numbers: 00006064 and 00050102]

Position numbers 00006064 and 00050102. The Department of Economics in Dedman College of Southern Methodist University (SMU) invites applications for two non-tenure track Lecturers. We are interested in candidates with teaching expertise and interest in any area of economics. The position entails a three year contract with the possibility of renewal, a typical 4-4 teaching load with no service or research required. Teaching responsibilities will primarily be undergraduate courses with the possibility of a limited number of masters level courses. We seek an innovative and inclusive educators and mentors for undergraduates and graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications. Ph.D. in Economics or related field is required by August 1, 2024. Position start date is August 1, 2024.
