Dr. James Lake joins the Dedman School as an assistant professor of economics from Johns Hopkins University where he received his Ph.D. Lake's primary research fields are international trade and networks. His job market paper on the interaction between the recent proliferation of Preferential Trade Agreements and the slow process of multilateral trade liberalization lies at the intersection of the two fields. His research on international trade extends to investigating the distributional consequences of NAFTA.
Dr. Danila Serra joins the Dedman College as an Assistant Professor of Economics. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Serra's research lies at the crossroads between experimental and development economics. She combines experimental methodologies and survey design, both in lab and field settings, for the study of issues relating to corruption, governance, and accountability. Before joining Dedman College, Serra was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Florida State University and a member of the Experimental Social Science Research Group. In the past, she also worked as a short-term consultant for the World Band in a number of research projects for which she conducted fieldwork in Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Albania.
