Abby Jennings, a fifth-year graduate student working for Professor David Son, was recently awarded a NASA Texas Space Grant Fellowship for a third consecutive year. This competitive fellowship program was established to encourage graduate studies in space science and engineering. Abby was one of only twenty students statewide to win a fellowship this year, and she was the sole recipient in the field of chemistry. Each fellowship consists of a $5000 award. Abby has synthesized new sulfur-containing compounds for degradable crosslinked networks, and is also investigating the synthesis of highly branched molecules called dendrimers. The list of 2013-14 NASA fellowship winners can be found here: http://www.tsgc.utexas.edu/grants/2013/fellows.html.
