Discuss the following with the undergraduate adviser or director in the department of your major

• departmental expectations for internship credit
• types of internship experiences you want to pursue
• professors who may be available to direct your internship

Prepare your resume and practice interview skills

Locate and apply for an internship

• Find an Internship Opportunity that interests you
• SMU Career Center
• professors, family, and friends

Complete the Learning Contract and University Waiver before you start

• file originals with the Dedman College Internship Program (See step 1 for contact information)
• keep a copy for your records!

Let your professor and the administrative assistant in the department of your major know that you are ready to register for the internship course

• register on access.smu.edu before the last day to add/drop classes
