The Center for Presidential History produces and supports research on the history of the American presidency, broadly conceived.
The CPH aims to function as a central hub for the most current and innovative research in Presidential History through four methods:
Every year, as part of its mission to support promising new research on the American presidency, the CPH hosts postdoctoral fellows.
SMU’s Center for Presidential History will host new graduate student and doctoral fellowships in the history of the presidency, American politics and foreign policy.
The CPH supports scholars at its home institution of Southern Methodist University who are at the Associate Professor rank and who are working on a book manuscript project. The Writing Fellowship provides that scholar a one-semester sabbatical from teaching during the final stages of their project.
The Center for Presidential History seeks to publish the fruits of its labor, in collaboration with participating scholars and institutions from all over the world.
