Visit our FAQ Page for other useful information.

  • Grade-level requirements for each workshop are given in terms of the grade the student will be entering in the fall. Grade-level requirements are firm, and exceptions cannot be made.
  • For Kindergarten-level workshops, all students must be 5 years old on or before June 1.

  • Workshops are limited in size, and spaces are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register early to secure a space in your desired workshop(s) and avoid disappointment.
  • SMU reserves the right to substitute instructors, change workshop locations, cancel workshops, adjust curricula or schedule, or limit enrollment.
  • Workshops are subject to cancellation due to insufficient enrollment.

  • Registration generally is available until 4:00 p.m. on the Thursday before a workshop begins. Online registration is encouraged.
  • Payment in full is required to finalize registration.  We do not offer payment plans or partial payment options.
  • We accept credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, and American Express), along with checks made payable to the SMU Summer Youth Programs.
  • Instructors do not accept enrollment fees nor walk-in students who are not officially registered.
  • Discounts may not be combined with any other promotion and may not be used retroactively. Discounts are subtracted from the regular registration fee.

  • Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation message via email.
  • Each child receives one (1) free t-shirt each summer.

Cancellation, Refund and Transfer Policies

We understand that issues may arise. Please alert us as soon as possible if you need to cancel, so that we can assist you with other arrangements.
Please Note:

  • Should SMU cancel an entire workshop, we will notify you in advance and will refund you in full.
  • No refunds are permitted in the event that SMU must cancel individual sessions of a workshop due to inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances beyond our control.
  • No refunds are permitted due to student absences from part or all of a workshop.

Several options are available if you cancel before the workshop begins:

  • You may request a refund.
  • Refund requests must be made no later than 12 noon on the Monday prior to the start of a workshop (one week in advance); after which time no refunds will be issued.
  • If you choose to cancel your registration, a $25 processing fee per workshop will be withheld from your refund.
  • Students may transfer to another summer youth course.
  • Students may substitute another individual in their place

If you cancel after class begins:

  • Students may transfer to another summer youth course.
  • Students may substitute another individual in their place.
  • No refunds will be issued

Authorization & Liability Release Form

The Summer Youth Program office must have an Authorization and Liability Release Form on file for every child, on or before the first day of his/her first workshop.
This form will provide our camp nurse with information related to your child’s health to provide safe, informed care should the need arise.

  • Please complete one copy of the form per child each summer.
  • We prefer that you submit this form in advance by email to smu.summer@smu.edu
  • You also may fax a printed copy to 972-473-3449 or mail to:

Summer Youth Program
SMU-in-Plano
5236 Tennyson Parkway
Suite 220 - 222

  • If you cannot make other arrangements, bring the completed form on your first day of camp.
  • The form also includes space for you to share any other information concerning your child (e.g., special characteristics or learning style) that might help us provide him/her with the best possible experience in camp.
