The purpose of SMU's Biosafety Program is to provide safe, legal, and environmentally responsible methods for the procurement, use, storage and disposal of potentially hazardous biological materials. This program applies to all faculty, staff and students who come into contact with or work in an area containing potentially hazardous biological materials.
University Biological Safety Policy
Applies to employees and students who come into contact with or work in an area containing potentially hazardous biological materials.
Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
IBC reports to the Provost and manages compliance with the University Policies and state and federal policies relating to potentially hazardous biological materials.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
IRB reports to the Provost and reviews research involving human subjects to judge whether or not subjects are placed at risk.
Submit a Proposal
Submit reseach proposal for Institutional Biosafety Committee and EHS review.
