About Access.SMU Training
Specialized training is provided for Access.SMU. Before administrative access is granted, specific training classes must be completed. Please verify that your supervisor has already submitted the "Modify Accounts and Services with Administrative Access.SMU" Account request form. This can be completed by clicking the Get Help button below. Please note: All Access.SMU classes require approval from the Registrar's Office or appropriate Module Lead before training can be scheduled.

Several classes are offered on a regular basis throughout the year.
Admissions
Enter Graduate Application Data (90 mins)
This class focuses on understanding application requirements, using search/match for existing SMU ID's and how to enter graduate application data.
View Admissions Information (30 mins)
This online tutorial covers the basics of where to find Admissions training. Prior permission and approval for training must be granted before the training team will make these tutorials available.
Campus Community
Create New SMU ID's (60 mins)
This class focuses on how to use Search/Match for existing SMU ID's. In addition, you will learn how to create a new SMU ID and update biographical data.
Financial Aid
Viewing Financial Aid Information (30 mins)
This online class will provide you with several tutorials on how to view Financial Aid pages in Access.SMU. Prior permission and approval for training from the Fincial Aid office must be granted before the training team will make these tutorials available.
Scholarship Award Pages - Track 1 (60 mins)
In this session you will learn how to view student and department awards, enter student awards, and run reports for managing awards.
Scholarship Award Pages - Track 2 (90 mins)
Track 2 covers all of the above items. In addition, FO Scholarship Approval information is provided.
Query
Creating Basic Queries (90 mins)
This session covers how to create single and joint table queries. In addition, you'll learn how to edit existing queries, add prompts and criteria.
Student Financials
View Student Financials (30 mins)
This online training covers how to review charges to a student's account. Prior permission and approval for training from the Student Financials office must be granted before the training team will make these tutorials available.
Working with Quick Post & Charge Reversals (60 mins)
Training will include how to add miscellaneous charges to a student's account and remove charges that have been misapplied.
Student Records
Access.SMU 2 in 1 Training (2.5 hours)
This class covers FERPA and an overview of Access.SMU. It provides a basic understanding of what information can be found in Access.SMU.
Access.SMU 3 in 1 Training (3 hours)
In addition to the items above, an introduction to Student Records will be provided.
Course Catalog & Schedule of Class (9 hours)
This 3 part class is offered only twice a year. The first session will cover how to make updates to the Course Catalog. The remaining two sessions covers how to update the Schedule of Class for a specific term. Attendance is required at all three sessions and approval for training must be granted by the Registrar's Office.
Enrollment (90 mins)
In this session, you'll learn how to assist in the enrollment process. Adding, dropping and swaping courses will be covered.
Program Plan (90 mins)
Topics include how to update a student's program as well as make changes in the system to a major or minor.
TIMEaccess
Bi-weekly Supervisor Training (90 mins)
A demonstration of the TIMEaccess application will be given during this training. A Training Specialist will be available at these sessions to answer questions. Note: This class is currently offered once a month.
