Accessing Voicemail for the First time
Initial passwords have been set by the system administrator are as follows:
8 and the last four digits of your telephone number followed by #.
Voicemail Features
Change the recorded name, greeting, or password
Press *5 or the Inte/voice mail button from your office phone. Follow the prompts to modify the correct item.
Select an Attendant Option:
Press *5 : then press 4 - 3 - then enter the last 5 digits of the telephone number you want the caller to go to - followed by the # key - REMEMBER to change your greeting to tell people to enter 03 so they will go to the attendant number you set up.
Retrieving Voicemail from off Campus:
Dial 214-768-6245 (SMU-MAIL)
The systems prompts you to enter your password followed by # sign --- enter mailbox number (last 5digits of your telephone number) followed by the # sign.
Send a Copy of the message -
Select 5 then dial 8xxxx or group number, ## after last number, then press 5 to record introduction message, then ## to send.
Groups - You can configure up to 15 groups. Each group can have up to 24 telephone numbers/names in each group. - select 5 and follow the instructions.
Replaying messages : press 7 to back up 10 seconds - press 9 to move ahead 10 seconds
Reply to messages - press 4 # then press 5-record your message, ## to send
Reviewing Options
1 = Play 2 = Save 3 = Erase # skips you to the next message
# # skips you to the next type of messages (saved, erased, new) after you press 1 to review
Telephone Features
Transferring someone directly to voicemail: Press the Transfer button - enter 83930 plus 8xxxx # and hang up immediately!
Forwarding your campus phone
Pick up the receiver and dial *3. Then enter the number to which your calls should be forwarded. Hang up your campus phone.
Cancel Call Forwarding
Pick up the receiver and dial #3. Then hang up. Calls should now be directed to your campus phone.
Conference call
Dial the first person
Press The Conference button
Dial the next person
You can connect a total of 7 parties to a conference call.
Do Not Disturb
Lift the receiver. Press *6 and hang up.
Cancel Do not Disturb
Lift the receiver. press #6 and hang up.
