Configuring a Departmental Printer
Before a departmental printer can be installed, an IP address must be requested and assigned. To request an IP address, please complete the appropriate request form via the Online Support Center. A consultant will then be dispatched to enter the IP address and other network information into the printer.
Once the printer is installed and configured, each desktop can then add the printer using the unique IP address.
Requesting Printer Repair
Printer repair is provided by the OIT Hardware Lifecycle Consultants. The consultants are certified to repair HP printers. Departments are only charged for any parts or maintenance kits used for the repair. To report a printing problem, please contact the OIT Help Desk.
ImageNet Printers
There are a number of copiers on campus supported by ImageNet. Many desktops are configured to print directly to these high speed copiers. For any maintenance issues or desktop printing issues for these devices, please contact ImageNet using the phone number listed on the copier itself.
Troubleshooting Printer Problems
- Print jobs are not going to the printer: Turn the printer off and then back on again
- Printer is showing offline: Double check that the cables are all connected to the printer. Then open the print queue from your computer. Verify that the printer is set to Online.
- Printer is showing a paper jam: Open the various trays and drawers. Very carefully remove any pieces of paper that you can find.
