The Equipment

Academic Technology has several pieces of equipment available for classroom use and checkout for a limited time.

* iPads are part of a grant and users will be expected to fill out a short survey based on their use.

Academic Technology Loaner Equipment Policy

Equipment is available for check out to current SMU faculty and staff from the Faculty Media Lab according to the following guidelines:

1. Loaner equipment will only be checked out to current SMU staff and faculty - no equipment will be checked out to students.
2. Equipment is to be picked up and returned to the Faculty Media Lab.
3. By checking out any equipment, you agree to accepting all financial responsibility for the equipment in the case of damage or loss.
4. Equipment is to be returned in working order and undamaged at the pre‑arranged time listed on the check-out agreement. You can view the return date in Voyager.
5. The maximum check-out period of time is managed by device type as follows, with limited exceptions:
1. Laptop computer – 2 weeks
2. iPad – 2 weeks
3. Coursecasting Kit - 1 week
4. Digital still or video camera - 3 days.
6. The suitability or stability of loaner equipment is not guaranteed.
7. While all equipment is checked in advance, we highly recommended that the user test any equipment before its intended use. Should a problem arise, the equipment may be exchanged, subject to availability.
8. Delivery or set-up option for loaner equipment is not provided. Training is available for all equipment, but must be scheduled in advance.
