The Faculty Media Lab is a multimedia facility for use by faculty and teaching assistants working on digital media and online projects. The facility is available on a walk-in basis during the hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. While we don't allow food in the lab, beverages with lids and candy are permitted.
The Faculty Media Lab is staffed by students in our SMU STAR Program. These talented and courteous undergraduate students can answer questions or assist with a wide variety of digital media and online issues. They are proficient in a variety of topics ranging from updating presentations, creating brochures to editing video, creating podcasts, and updating web sites.
Computer Stations
Dual Boot Mac computers with both Windows and Mac OS are available. The computer stations are provided with specialized hardware and software.
HD VIDEO EDITING STATION
For capturing, editing, and publishing digital and analog video.
DIGITAL IMAGING STATION
For scanning and editing images in multiple film formats (120/220, 35mm, etc.).
DIGITAL AUDIO STATION
For recording, editing, and converting digital audio. Also, for scanning large format images up to tabloid size.
STATISTICAL STATION
For scanning bulk sheet feed documents and converting printed documents to text. Plus, working with statistical software.
