Temporary staff work in a non-teaching capacity, supporting administrative areas, programs, and schools, for a period of one year or less. Similar to regular staff, they may work on a part-time or full-time basis. Temporary staff are not eligible for University benefits.
INSTRUCTOR (TEMPORARY) – Date Posted: May 3, 2013 – SMU Mustang Learning Center - (Hourly Rate: $10.00 for training; $20.00 per instructional session) - This is a temporary, non-benefited 20 hours a week position with work hours scheduled between 9:00am – 6:30pm Monday thru Friday. The SMU Mustang Learning Center for Youth is a tutoring service and education resource for parents, children, and teachers in the Dallas metro area. Our goal is to help children develop stronger reading, math, and academic skills, earn better grades, gain self-confidence, and improve motivation. Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ability to engage students and provide high quality one-on-one instruction; Expertise: grades Kg-10th core subject areas reading, writing, math, and test-taking skills; Record and maintain accurate student records; Administer and coordinate student assessment and tests; Prepare and maintain all assigned academic reports and forms as required; Participate in all professional development programs and meetings as required; Comply with SMU operational policies and procedures; Perform all others duties assigned by immediate supervisor; and Communicate and work cooperatively with center instructors. A Bachelor’s degree in education or other related field from an accredited educational institution required. Teacher certification preferred. Candidate must demonstrate strong and effective instructional skills. Excellent organizational and team work skills required. Candidate must possess excellent communication skills. The ability to interact with caring & sensitivity to multicultural backgrounds, individual disabilities, and languages a must. Strong computer skills are essential.
