All full-time staff and faculty are automatically covered under SMU's Long-Term Disability Plan after three months of employment. LTD benefits are provided through an insurance policy paid for by the University.
Following 90 consecutive days of total disability, you will receive monthly income equal to 60% of your basic monthly earnings, up to a maximum of $7,500 per month. Your monthly LTD benefit will be reduced by Social Security and any other disability income you may be eligible to receive, such as Workers' Compensation.
Maximum Duration of Benefits
Benefits will not accrue beyond the duration specified below:
