Study Abroad

Tuition Benefits will cover only the tuition portion of SMU Study Abroad programs. Study Abroad programs that do not include credit-bearing course(s) (e.g. service & volunteer programs, research abroad, internships & co-ops) are not covered.

Admission and enrollment in Study Abroad programs are administered by SMU's Study Abroad Office:

Location: SMU International Center - Blanton Building, Suite 216
    Email:   abroad@SMU.edu
    Phone:  214.768.2338

Once accepted into a SMU Study Abroad Program, the student is responsible for the advance deposit to hold his or her spot in the program. Once the full tuition has posted to the Student's Account, the advance deposit can be applied to any remaining balance and/or refunded.  The advance deposit fee and all other fees (e.g., travel insurance, room/board, course fees, program fees, books/supplies, travel costs, etc.) are the responsibility of the student.  To determine a specific Study Abroad program's deposit fee and other costs not covered by Tuition Benefits, please contact the Study Abroad Office.

To request Tuition Benefits for a Study Abroad program, please submit a Tuition Benefits Request via my.smu.edu for that particular academic year (For example: Study Abroad for June 2015 will be in academic year 2014-2015 or AY2015).
